It works to get a little hair if, but no where near as good as a regular brush.

Instead of having a fur coat like most dogs, my little Havanese/Shih-Tzu "designer dog" has just a fluffy coat of medium length hair to keep her warm so happily, there's no shedding...and the shorter side of the brush has nubs the right size for this kind of dog.I don't mind the fact that the dispenser function's not exactly perfect or precise...because doggie bath time's always been pretty much a big wet mess, and with this tool, it's less so and the job gets done much quicker: instead of improvising by slathering palmfuls of shampoo onto my doubtful dog followed by Big Gulp-sized cups of water to work up a lather and rinse one body part at a time, finally I've got the right tool for the right job

The spray function does not work all that great and the water leaks depending on how you hold the brush. But I (and with that I mean my cats) love the two different sides with different textures! They will decide which one they want me to use and they are very adamant about it, so who am I to disagree with them!
